Skier Dies After Crashing Into Tree at Stowe Mountain Resort

The skier was pronounced dead at the resort.

Police say a skier has died after crashing into a tree at Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont.

Ski patrol evacuated the skier Monday evening from the hill, at which point medical care was continued by Stowe emergency services.

The skier was pronounced dead at the resort. Stowe police identified him Monday as Arthur Powers, a 60-year-old from Westport, Connecticut.

The death is being investigated by the Stowe Police Department and the medical examiner.
