Soggy, Windy System Sliding Out of New England

After such a soggy and windy pattern, we’re finally starting to see this system sliding out. A gradual clearing of the skies overnight from south to north. Showers finally depart northern Maine early tomorrow morning. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for central Massachusetts and the Boston-area as gusts could reach between 30-40 mph on the backside of this system. Overnight, temperatures will be cooler than previous night as clouds and rain depart, along with lowering the humidity. Lows slip back into the 40s west, near 50 closer to the coastline. Sunshine returns for our Friday with highs near 60 south, 50s north.

Saturday will be the pick of the weekend in terms of picture perfect weather with high temperatures into the mid to upper 60s under mostly sunny skies. Sunday brings the next round of rain and wind by the late afternoon as we track a system that slides up the eastern seaboard, so expect tropical-like downpours again, similar to the rain that we experienced over the last few days. We could add an additional 1-3” of rainfall Sunday into Monday, which could create a flood threat for both days. Plus, wind gusts could top at 50-60 mph, with downed trees and scattered power outages possible both days. Plus, make sure your Halloween decorations are secured properly before Sunday or bring them indoors.

Speaking of Halloween, on Tuesday, the rain will be out of here, but the wind sticks around, and slightly cooler air settles in. Highs on Tuesday reach into the 50s with temperatures slipping into the upper 40s by the time trick-or-treating kicks off. Another round of rain likely early Thursday, otherwise the rest of the 10-day looks relatively dry.
