Teen Charged with Bringing Starter Pistols to School

The school went into a temporary lockdown while lockers were searched

A New Hampshire school was temporarily locked down Thursday following a report that a student brought two starter pistols to campus.

John Soraghan, 17, of 33 Nicole Circle, Hampstead, was arrested by Derry Police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on a summons to appear in Derry District Court on Feb. 12.

Police received a report at 10:52 a.m. that a Pinkerton Academy student, later identified as Soraghan, might have brought a weapon onto campus. The school conducted a modified lockdown while police and school staff searched a row of lockers for what were described as two starter pistols that were allegedly placed there by the student.

In one of the lockers, police located the pistols. Soraghan did not use or threaten anyone with the pistols.

No one was injured and the school day resumed after a brief lockdown.
