Tips: Getting Ready for College Move-in Day

Whether you want to think about it or not, moving day for college is right around the corner, and you know what that means. There will be lots of lifting and pulling, usually resulting in sore backs, knees and hands.

But there are ways to help your body survive the stress.

Dr. Jack Cornwell, regional medical director for Carewell Urgent Care joined us with some advice.

First, bend at the knees, keep abdominal muscles tight and pull back up using leg muscles.

Avoid lifting heavy boxes if you can and lift multiple small loads.

Try to pick up boxes from waist height and not off the floor.
