Bermuda is a popular Autumn vacation spot for New Englanders, and perhaps Tropical Storm Karl.
Karl is right now located in the Atlantic, well east of Puerto Rico. It is moving to the northwest, and is likely to become a hurricane as it curves closer to Bermuda sometime Friday into Saturday. It's too early to say exactly how close the storm gets to the island, however.
Karl will stay far away from New England because it will curve out to sea after passing near Bermuda.
At the same time, the season's 12th named storm of the season formed just off the African coast on Tuesday. That storm, Lisa, will stay out to sea.
In a typical season we see 12 named storms in the Atlantic, but with Lisa's formation today we all but guarantee an above average year.
Hurricane season runs through November.
