A 14-year-old is accused of leading Vermont State Police on a car chase.

A 14-year-old is accused of leading Vermont State Police on a car chase.

Police say they responded to the report of a pickup truck tailgating another vehicle in Cornith around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night. The driver allegedly refused to pull over. They say he turned off his headlights, sped across a homeowner's lawn, and eventually crashed into a ditch.

Police discovered the motorist was only 14 years old. The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with attempting to elude and careless and negligent operation. He will appear in Orange County Family Court on Feb. 15.
