Police Identify 19-Year-Old Vermont Student Found in Snow

Connor Gage, 19, of Little Falls, New York, was found unresponsive in the snow Saturday morning

A 19-year-old University of Vermont student died after he was found lying in the snow Saturday morning in Burlington, Vermont, police said.

School officials identified the student Sunday as Connor Gage, a first-year student from Little Falls, New York, who was majoring in Neuroscience within the College of Arts and Sciences.

Police say Gage was found unresponsive in the snow just before 11 a.m. Saturday behind a business on North Winooski Avenue in Burlington.

Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful, police said.

Officials say Gage was apparently cutting through the business parking lot early Saturday morning when he was stopped by a fence.

Temperatures were below zero and the victim was not wearing clothes that were adequate for the weather. Police said Sunday they believe exposure to cold seems to have been a cause or significant contributing factor in Gage's death.

Police are continuing to investigate Gage's condition and his whereabouts in the hours prior to his death but there were no indications of foul play.

The University of Vermont will be offering counseling services.
