3 Cited for Vandalism; Group: Racist Attack on Farmworkers

Vermont State Police say three men have been cited to appear in court on vandalism and other offenses near farms and fields in Bridport that an immigrant rights group calls a racist attack against migrant farmworkers.

Police said Wednesday that the offenses, including firing a weapon, appear to be part of a feud between local farm families that started as a dispute over access to a fishing area.

Police said they notified the Vermont attorney general's office under the bias incident reporting system and the investigation is ongoing.

Migrant Justice posted on Facebook last month that for a couple of nights a group has surrounded the farmworkers' houses, yelling insults, breaking windows and air conditioning units and returning later to fire guns into the air.
