Police: 3-Year-Old Killed in Crash Was Not Wearing Seat Belt

Police say a 3-year-old girl was in the front seat and not wearing a seat belt when she was killed in a crash in Brighton, Vermont.

Twenty-five-year-old Christina Deslandes suffered minor injuries when she crossed the center line and the other side of Route 114, crashing into a telephone pole shortly after noon Sunday, police said.

The child was not restrained by a seat belt or child seat of any kind. Deslandes was also not wearing a seat belt.

Both of them were taken to North Country Hospital, where the young girl was pronounced dead.

Deslandes suffered minor injuries.

State police are investigating the crash.
