All of Rutland, Vermont's Firefighters Respond to Large House Fire

Officials say it took three hours to knock out a four-alarm house fire in Rutland that drew a response from all of the Vermont city's firefighters.

Deputy Fire Chief Brad LaFaso says crews were called to a multi-family home on Franklin Street around 9:57 a.m. Sunday following reports of a structure fire.

LaFaso says the entire back of the house was already burned off by the time firefighters arrived to the scene. Winds blew heavy smoke toward the firefighters as they worked around a large amount of growth and debris to battle the flames.

The residents of the home were able to escape without serious injuries. LaFaso says no firefighters were hurt in blaze.

The home is likely a total loss. An investigation into the fire's cause is ongoing.
