Fire officials say a church in downtown Montpelier, Vermont, is damaged after a crane collapsed on the roof of the nearly 150-year-old building.
Authorities say the crane was in place Monday morning to remove blocks of granite cap stones from the side of Christ Episcopal Church when a large pin that was supporting the crane dislodged. Firefighters say a worker on the roof had to leap onto a scaffolding landing.
The Rev. Paul Habersang says no one was hurt, but says the church received internal and external damage, including dislodged roof tiles and plaster.
The truck attached to the crane also was damaged.
Fire officials say the rest of the building is structurally sound and that two cranes are necessary remove the damaged one.
