Dad, Daughter Rescue Man From Burning Car After Crash

Vermont State Police are thanking a father and daughter who pulled a man to safety after his car crashed in Springfield, fully-engulfing it in flames.

The crash happened just after midnight on Interstate 91, state police said.

Police said Marie and Michael Lajole, both of Maryland, stopped when they saw the car in the median of the highway. There was a large amount of smoke coming from the vehicle.

The driver, 66-year-old Gene Farnham, was unable to unlock his car or roll down his windows, according to police. Michael Lajole smashed the rear passenger window and gained access to the car. Both Marie and Michael helped Farnham away from the vehicle just as it became fully-engulfed in flames.

Farnham was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
