The lawyer for a Vermont woman charged in the 2012 killing of a St. Johnsbury teacher wants his client to undergo another competency evaluation before she is allowed to plead guilty.
The lawyer for Patricia Prue told a judge Tuesday that he had spoken with Prue on Monday and she still wants to plead guilty to the killing of Melissa Jenkins.
Defense attorney Brian Marsicovetere made the comments during a St. Johnsbury hearing where he said he would ask Judge Robert Bent to order another competency hearing for Prue.
Prue is scheduled for trial in March. Her husband, Allen Prue, was convicted and sentenced last year to life imprisonment.
Prosecutor Lisa Warren says she's still ready for a March trial. Details of the plea agreement have not been reached.
