Vermont State Police are investigating after an elderly couple was discovered drowned in a small pond in Peru.
Police say they learned of the deaths at 2:34 on Thursday.
Neighbors and friends of Ruth and Lawrence Daley contacted police saying they were not heard from in several days.
The couple was found drowned in a pond on a property that Lawrence was a caretaker for.
They were known to use a small boat to prepare the pond for the winter.
Both were believed to be able to swim, but medical conditions are believed to have contributed to the incident.
The incident remains under investigation and no foul play is suspected.
