Ex-Vermont Plant Manager Sentenced For Embezzling $300K

52-year-old Gregory Harriman, formerly of Bennington, was also ordered on Monday to pay nearly $387,000 in restitution

A former Vermont plant manager has been sentenced to more than two years in prison for defrauding a Bennington company out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 52-year-old Gregory Harriman, formerly of Bennington, was also ordered on Monday to pay nearly $387,000 in restitution. He pleaded guilty to mail fraud in June.

Investigators say the 52-year-old was involved in phony accounts and invoices between 2007 and 2011 while working at NSK Steering Systems America.

Officials say Harriman and an accomplice created a company that Harriman directed NSK to work with while concealing his involvement. They say he then helped his partner create false quotes and invoices from the company to NSK, getting it to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to the company.
