Fatal Head-On Crash Linked to Driver's Marijuana Use

Toxicology reports revealed marijuana in Lance Magoon's system and police say that contributed to the crash.

Vermont State Police say a driver had marijuana in his system on Christmas Eve when his car crossed over the center line and hit another car head-on, killing himself and injuring four people in the other car.

Lance Magoon of Richford, was eastbound on Route 105 in Berkshire at about 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 when his Saab crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a Subaru driven by 19-year-old Chantelle Nolan of Enosburg.

The 46-year-old Magoon died at the scene. Toxicology reports revealed marijuana in Magoon's system and police say that contributed to the crash.

Nolan was seriously injured and taken to Fletcher Allen hospital. Three juveniles in her car were also injured.
