A Winooski, Vermont, fire chief placed on administrative leave last week has been accused of inappropriate conduct.
The Burlington Free Press reports David Bergeron was placed on paid leave on March 22.
The reasons for his leave had been unclear. But a letter from the city shows that Bergeron is accused of unspecified "inappropriate conduct" and of printing "inappropriate materials" on city property. Additional details about the accusations weren't provided.
City Manager Katherine Decarreau said Wednesday the accusations remain under investigation.
Bergeron has been a member of the fire department since 1995. He also serves as the city's building inspector, code enforcement director and emergency management coordinator.
Bergeron couldn't be reached for comment. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer.
