Former Latin Kings Member Sentenced for Drive-By Shooting in Vermont

A former member of the Latin Kings street gang has been convicted and sentenced for his role in a drive-by shooting that injured a 26-year-old man in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in 2014.

The Caledonian Record reports that 47-year-old Juan "Chino" Rodriguez was sentenced to serve four to 15 years behind bars Monday in Caledonia Superior Court for the July 15, 2014 shooting.

Police say on that night Rodriguez was a passenger in a car that peppered a River Road home with gunfire. The target, Rafael Rodriguez, was struck in the buttocks.

The shooting was allegedly the culmination of a dispute between the two men, who are not related, over a $300 debt.

With credit for time already served, Juan Rodriguez will be eligible for release in the spring of 2018.
