Former State Trooper Violates Probation, Gets 2 More Years in Prison

Mark Beezup was convicted of sexual conduct with a 12-year-old girl

A former Vermont State Police trooper convicted of sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl has been sentenced to a maximum two-year sentence in prison for violating his probation.

The Caledonian Record reports 57-year-old Mark Beezup violated court orders to stay away from the girl's 11-year-old sister unless he had permission from a probation officer and other officials.

Officials say Beezup and his wife were with the girl on many occasions and tried to hide it.

Beezup's wife told the court she was at fault, citing an instance when she picked up her husband and forgot that the girl was in the passenger seat.

Beezup told the court he takes responsibility for the violation and is concerned for his wife, who suffers from a brain injury.
