The Vermont Department of Corrections say a 57-year-old inmate has died at the Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield.
The department said that Brian Deguise was pronounced dead at around 11 a.m. Monday. The cause of death has not been determined.
Deguise had been housed in the prison's general population.
An investigation is being planned.
Deguise was a federally detained inmate who had been in the custody of the Department of Corrections since Nov. 29. The department did not list his hometown.
