Investigators: Badly Burned Body Found in Vermont House Fire

Police are investigating a fire at a Vermont home and the discovery of a badly burned body in St. Johnsbury.

Police say they are working to identify the victim of the fire at the home on Crepeault Hill Road on Tuesday night. Thursday, state police said DNA analysis would be required because of how badly the person was burned.

According to WPTZ-TV, the house was completely engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene.

Police told WPTZ-TV, the homeowner, 52-year-old Timothy Persons, and his green Dodge Caravan were missing.

Thursday, the vehicle was found parked on Pearl Street. It was believed to have been moved there by an unknown person overnight Wednesday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the fire or the Dodge Caravan is asked to call 802-748-3111.
