Lost Hikers Rescued From Mountain

Vermont State Police say a Pennsylvania couple took a wrong turn while hiking and troopers had to rescue them

Vermont State Police say a Pennsylvania couple took a wrong turn while hiking and troopers had to rescue them.

Troopers got a call "well after dark" from 41-year-old Andrew Wood, who was hiking with his wife and dog. They had taken a bad turn at the top of the mountain.

Troopers Tom Stange and Chris Burnett hiked into the woods, used GPS mapping to locate the couple and got them back to their car safely. The rescue took about nine hours, including six hours spent hiking through the woods.

Bennington Police also helped on the rescue.
