Man Accused in Fatal Fair Stabbing Due in Court

Officials say they anticipate formal charges will be filed when 20-year-old Jacob St. Amour, of Williston, appears Tuesday in court

A Vermont man arrested following the fatal stabbing of a man on the grounds of the Champlain Valley Fair is due to make his first appearance in court.

Officials say they anticipate formal charges will be filed when 20-year-old Jacob St. Amour, of Williston, appears Tuesday in court in Chittenden County.

The victim, 22-year-old Ryan Durkin, of South Burlington, was stabbed once in the chest and died late Sunday. St. Amour was arrested the following afternoon.

Police were looking into what preceded the stabbing. Witnesses said the two were engaged in a dispute about an hour before the fair was to close.
