Man Charged in DUI Crash That Killed 2 Passengers

Vermont State Police have arrested a man they say was under the influence when he crashed in West Charleston last month, killing two passengers and injuring another.

Police responded to the crash around 4:40 p.m. on May 29.

They say Joshua Cole lost control of the vehicle after exiting a sharp corner and went off the road on Vermont Route 105 and crashed into a tree.

All three passengers were thrown from the vehicle. No one was wearing a seat belt.

Esperanza Robles, 29, of Derby Line, and Ryan Coulter, 26, of Newport, were killed in the crash.

Amanda Letourneau, 27, of East Charleston, sustained serious head and leg injuries.

Cole sustained head injuries in the crash.

He was charged with two counts of DUI with death resulting, involuntary manslaughter, and other related charges.

Bail was set at $50,000. He will be arraigned Wednesday in Newport City at Orleans District Court.
