Man Charged With Credit Card Fraud

Police in South Burlington, Vermont, arrested Michael Thompson after a woman who says she lost her card said it was used to make $3,500 at a mall.

Police say they identified a credit card fraud suspect after he applied for a job at one of the stores where he used the card to make a purchase.

South Burlington police have charged 31-year-old Michael Thompson of Grand Isle with credit card fraud, forgery and false pretenses.

A Burlington woman called police earlier this month to report that she lost her card and it was then used to make about $3,500 in purchases at the University Mall in South Burlington.

Police say they located some of the items purchased with the credit card at Thompson's home.

He is due to appear in court Tuesday. It was not immediately known whether he has a lawyer.
