Motorist Leaves Crash Scene, Arrested for DUI

Vermont State Police arrested a man on a DUI charge in the town of Wallingford.

Around 10 p.m. Friday, state police from the Rutland Barracks were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on VT Route 40 west. Investigation revealed that the vehicle left the road on the right shoulder and came to a rest against a snowbank.

Police say that the operator was picked up by a third party and was at a business in Wallingford. Upon speaking with the motorist, later identified as Robert Mackey, police noticed he was showing signs of intoxication. He was taken into custody and was charged with DUI.

Mackey will answer to this charge in Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division.
