Patients to Start Using Expansion in Vermont Hospital

Almost 130 patients at Vermont's largest hospital are expected to begin moving into the new private rooms in the just-completed Miller Building.

The new rooms at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington will begin to be occupied Saturday. They are designed to serve specialty surgery, cardiology, oncology and orthopedic patients.

The building is designed to expand the number of private rooms at the hospital from 30% to nearly 90%, but it does not increase the number of patients who can be cared for at the same time.

The nearly $200 million facility will also include enhanced information technology and larger family spaces within rooms.
