Police: Car Hit 50 MPH With 5-Year-Old on Roof

Two people were arrested after police say a woman and a 5-year-old were riding on the roof of a car on a Vermont highway Sunday afternoon.

A witness brought state police photos of the woman, determined to be 27-year-old Lindsey Perkins, atop a car while it was driving on Route 14 in Coventry shortly before 1 p.m. By Monday, police had identified the people involved.

Police say the car was driving between 50 and 55 mph.

Perkins and the driver, 20-year-old Nicholas Nobaris, were both arrested for child endangerment. Nobaris is also charged with gross, negligent operation and reckless endangerment.

Both were released. They are due in court on June 16.
