Police: Dog Shot, Run Over by Car

The animal was found at the bottom of its owner's driveway

Vermont State Police are investigating an animal cruelty case after a dog was shot and run over by a vehicle on Thursday.

At 10:10 a.m., a resident of Eastman Road in Grafton, Vermont, called to report that her 13-month-old German Shepard-Rottweiler mix was shot and run over at the bottom of her driveway. Investigation revealed that the incident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The dog's owner rushed the pet to the Springfield Animal Hospital, where it was confirmed that the dog had been shot, injuring its right rear leg. The dog had also been hit by a vehicle.

The owner said the dog is primarily black in color, so there is no reason for someone to have mistaken it for a deer.
