Vermont State Police have arrested a woman accused of crashing into a wooden fence while under the influence of alcohol Monday.

Police reported to the town of Dummerston for a report of a single-vehicle crash at 10:31 p.m.

Investigation showed that Linda MacDonald, 55, of Shelburne, Massachusetts, was traveling on U.S. Route 5 when she left the roadway and struck the fence.

MacDonald told police she was lost and was writing down directions she was receiving on the phone on a notepad, which caused her to leave the roadway.

MacDonald did not sustain any injuries and the vehicle was towed.

Police say MacDonald failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. She was released on a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court on April 28.
