Police Investigate Accident That Killed Bicyclist

Vermont state police say a bicyclist was found dead after apparently losing control on a downhill curve on Route 315 in Rupert.

Police say 52-year-old Michael Munson of Peru, Vermont, had been riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon on Route 315 near Derby Hill Road when he apparently lost control and was thrown from his bike - striking his head on the ground.

Authorities say the bicycle's front tire was blown, but they are not sure if that happened before or after the crash.

Munson was wearing a helmet, but police say it came off during the accident.

State police ask anyone with information about the accident to call Detective Sgt. Daniel Elliott at 802-773-9101.
