Police are continuing to investigate the Tuesday incident in which they say 57-year-old Kevin Parker shot his 42-year-old neighbor Kirby Staib

The man Vermont State Police say was the shooter in the killing of a Wardsboro man has been released without being charged.

Police are continuing to investigate the Tuesday incident in which they say 57-year-old Kevin Parker shot his 42-year-old neighbor Kirby Staib, both of Gilfeather Road in Wardsboro, following an altercation on the property of another neighbor.

State Police Capt. J.P. Sinclair told the Rutland Herald the investigation into the death of Staib is continuing.

Sinclair said he needs to be 100 percent sure before commenting on the motive. He says Parker cooperated with police and was released with no restrictions.

Staib was found dead on the lawn of another neighbor's home.
