Police: Remains Found in Vermont Last Fall Identified as Fugitive Sex Offender

Vermont authorities say human remains found in a wooded area in Orange last fall are those of a wanted sex offender.

State police said Wednesday that DNA analysis has confirmed that the remains belong to 21-year-old Philip Jackman, who went missing in 2004 and was wanted for sex offenses.

A hunter tracking with dogs stumbled upon the remains last October.

They were sent to the Chief Medical Examiner's Office at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

Jackman went missing in 2004 and was wanted for sex offenses.

Police found Jackman's vehicle abandoned and thought he was suicidal and evading capture.
