Skier Fatally Strikes Tree in Vermont

Vermont State Police are investigating after a skier died on Q Burke Mountain on Friday.

Police say the 27-year-old woman from St. Johnsbury was skiing on the mountain in East Burke when she left the trail and struck a tree around 3:15 p.m. Ski Patrol was notified of the accident when the woman did not meet up with the individual she was skiing with, according to police. Ski Patrol found the woman deceased around 5:20 p.m.

The woman's death is being investigated as an accident, but the investigation is on-going. An autopsy will be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington.

The victim's name is being withheld pending the notification of her family.
