The trial for a suspended Vermont state senator charged with sexual assault has been delayed.
Republican Sen. Norman McAllister also faces three counts of prohibited acts stemming from allegations that he sexually assaulted two women at his dairy farm. Both were his tenants and employees.
The Associated Press generally doesn't identify people who say they were sexually assaulted.
The accusations were split into two separate trials.
McAllister's second trial was scheduled to begin next week. The Burlington Free Press reports prosecutors requested the delay due to a family emergency.
The defense says lawyers hope to reschedule that trial in December.
Prosecutors dismissed two sexual assault counts during McAllister's first trial in June after the complaining witness' story failed to hold up under cross examination.
