UVM, Nurses Union Reach Tentative Agreement on Contract

The University of Vermont Medical Center has reached a tentative contract agreement with a union representing nurses.

Both UVM Medical Center and the Vermont Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals both confirmed Wednesday night they had reached a tentative agreement.

The union said in a statement they "stood up and refused to accept management's last, best and final offer." The union added that they "ended negotiations on" their terms.

UVM Medical Center said in a statement the hospital agreed to a contract that includes a 16 percent average base salary increase over three years.

Higher wages were a sticking point for the contract. The nurses had sought a 22-percent raise over three years.
