Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin Endorses Hillary Clinton for President Over Bernie Sanders

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is endorsing Hillary Clinton for president over Sen. Bernie Sanders.

The Democratic governor made the announcement in a tweet from his campaign account on Wednesday - the same day that Sanders, who is seeking the Democratic nomination, announced details of his campaign kickoff in Burlington.

Shumlin tweeted, "Proud to endorse @HillaryClinton--a lifelong champion for everyday Americans."

His spokesman confirmed that the tweet came from Shumlin.

He says the governor has tremendous respect for Sanders and thinks his voice will focus the campaign on issues that matter to Vermonters and Americans. He says Shumlin thinks Clinton has spent her life fighting for everyday Americans and that she's the right person to be president of the United States.
