Vermont Man Driving Under Influence of Alcohol Rams Truck Into Home

A Vermont man faces charges after crashing his pickup truck into a home.

Police were advised of a single vehicle crash just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. A truck had driven off the roadway at the intersection of Hortonville and Cold Roads in Mt. Holly, before becoming lodged into the living room of a residence.

The operator of the vehicle then went into reverse and attempted to leave, but backed into a well in the yard. He could not get the truck off of it. Two passengers fled the scene.

The cause of the crash was determined to be that the operator failed to maintain the lane of traffic. The operator was identified as Garett Lever, 32, of Rutland Town. Police say he had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

No one inside the home was injured.
