Vermont Man Faces Charges in Shooting Death of Girlfriend

A Shrewsbury, Vermont, man is facing charges in the shooting death of his longtime girlfriend.

State police say 54-year-old Frank Weir is facing charges of second-degree murder and aggravated domestic assault in the fatal shooting of 57-year-old Donna Marzilli.

Troopers say they responded to the couple's Shrewsbury home on Monday night on the report of a shooting. They caller said that he had been involved in a dispute with his girlfriend and that she had been shot. When troopers arrived on the scene they found Marzilli dead from an apparent gunshot wound, and took Weir into custody.

Weir is being held without bail at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility in Rutland, pending his arraignment on Wednesday. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

The shooting remains under investigation.
