Vermont Police Make Arrest in ATM Robbery

David Morrison will be charged with assault and robbery

Police in Burlington, Vermont, say they've arrested a 22-year-old city man in connection with a robbery of a person using an automatic teller machine.

Police say David Morrison will be charged with assault and robbery, a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Police say the victim was using TD Bank ATM on Church Street on Dec. 17.

Authorities say that after initial media reports about the crime, they got several tips from the public that helped them make the arrest.

They're advising caution by ATM users. They say people should be mindful of individuals lurking in the area before approaching the ATM. ATM users should conceal their personal identification number - or PIN - at all times, and remember to remove their card from the machine when finished.
