Vermont Roads Reopened Following Amtrak Locomotive Removal

Vermont State Police say the locomotive of a train that derailed earlier this week in Northfield has been removed and nearby roads have been reopened.

The work took several hours on Saturday.

The area and intersections of Vermont Routes 12 and 12A and Wall Street were closed.

A passenger train headed from Vermont to Washington derailed Monday when it hit rocks that had fallen onto the track from a ledge. Seven people were injured. Amtrak says everyone who was injured was released from the hospital the following day.
