Vermont State Police say two crashes over the weekend both involved the driver hitting a bear.

The first crash happened Friday evening in Waterford, when a 16-year-old girl tried to break as a bear ran across the road. MyNBC5 reports the girl's vehicle suffered severe front end damage, but she was not injured.

Police say the second crash happened early Saturday in Shaftsbury. A 32-year-old man was driving northbound when a bear suddenly ran out onto the road and collided with his vehicle.

The driver suffered no injuries, but the vehicle suffered severe damage and was towed from the scene.
