Two separate drivers crashed after losing control of their cars on a slippery and frozen road within an hour of one another Friday morning in Vermont, according to state police.
Vermont State Police say they responded to a crash on Tinmouth Road in Danby just after 6:45 a.m., where a 2004 Toyota Carolla had lost control going down a hill and around a curve, spinning off the road and damaging the car's front hood, under the carriage and grill. Police say the driver, 22-year-old Zoe Trimboli of Danby, was wearing her seatbelt and wasn't injured.
Police say they responded to the same road around 7:06 a.m. for another crash, this time involving a 2005 Jeep Liberty hitting a tree after losing control going down the same hill. Sixty-one-year-old Karen Caldwell, the driver, injured her head and legs, police said, and her condition is unknown. Caldwell was taken to Rutland Regional Medical center by Manchester Rescue and then flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Vermont Police say that while the crashes do not appear to be specifically related, they are investigating and say speed related to weather conditions appear to be factors.
