Vermont Voters to Elect Statewide Officials, Legislature

Probably the most closely watched election this year is the gubernatorial contest

Vermont voters will be electing a governor, U.S. senator, U.S House member and all 180 members of the Vermont Legislature.

As of mid-week, there were almost 483,000 people registered to vote, which is higher than the 2016 figure for the same day, but officials won't say how many people they expect to cast ballots in Tuesday's off-year election.

Probably the most closely watched election this year is the contest between incumbent Republican Gov. Phil Scott and his Democratic challenger Christine Hallquist.

Independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders is seeking his third-term in the Senate. He's being challenged by Manchester businessman Lawrence Zupan.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Peter Welch is being challenged by Republican Anya Tynio.
