Victim Killed in Fire

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out at a motor home in Eden, Vermont, killing one person early Saturday morning.

Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that left one victim dead Saturday in Eden, Vermont.

Police say the fire broke out at 1390 East Hill Road. A driver who was passing the scene reported it and fire crews responded after 4:30 a.m.

Because the driveway to the motor home, which police say was parked about 250 yards off the road, was not plowed, firefighters had to carry hose lines all the way to the fire by hand. The victim was found dead inside.

It is estimated that more than $5,000 of damage was done, and the motor home is considered a total loss.

An autopsy will be performed on the victim, who has not yet been identified.

Officials do not consider the fire suspicious. Anyone with information is asked to call Vermont State Police.
