Volunteer Firefighter Arrested In Suspicious Fire

He allegedly set fire outside convenience store where he worked

Vermont State Police say a volunteer firefighter is facing a charge of setting a fire outside a convenience store where he worked in Waitsfield.

Police say 27-year-old Jason Brown of Fayston is accused of setting a small fire outside the Champlain Farms on the night of Aug. 27, and then putting it out with another firefighter using a fire extinguisher.

The fire caused about $500 in damage.

No one was injured.

Police said Friday that they are investigating three other suspicious fires set outside the store in August.

It was not immediately known if Brown is being represented by a lawyer. No available phone number was listed under his name.
