Officials in Vermont are recommending residents take down their bird feeders April 1 to avoid attracting bears.
According to necn affiliate NBC 5, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department said bears will be coming out of hibernation and will be attracted to the food in bird feeders.
Pet food, grills and garbage can also attract bears.
Residents are reminded that purposefully feeding bears is illegal.
