Warm Weather Forces 2 Ski Resorts to Delay Openings

Both Q Burke Mountain Resort and Bolton Valley Resort now plan to open their lifts on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19, respectively

Two northern Vermont ski resorts have pushed back their planned opening dates by a week due to the unseasonably warm temperatures experienced throughout the region.

The Burlington Free Press reports both Q Burke Mountain Resort and Bolton Valley Resort now plan to open their lifts on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19, respectively.

An announcement from Bolton officials on Tuesday says their snowmakers have been doing their best but they can't compete with the 40-plus-degree weather that "Mother Nature has been throwing at us over the past several weeks."

Q Burke's snow report, released Wednesday, says "the roller coaster continues" with crews performing back-to-back snowmaking sessions only to find the temperature continuing to not cooperate.
