Winners of Muzzleloader Antlerless Deer Permits Announced in VT

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department has announced the winners of antlerless deer permits for the muzzleloader season

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department has announced the winners of antlerless deer permits for the muzzleloader season.

Hunters who applied by the Aug. 14 deadline can now find out if they won a permit by going to the department's website. The state announced the winners last week after a randomized computer drawing.

The permits are listed by category: either as lottery winners or landowners.

Landowners who apply for the landowner antlerless permit are not allowed to post their land against hunting.

This year, 23,000 antlerless permits are authorized for the December muzzleloader season in 18 of Vermont's 21 wildlife management units.

The department's deer project leader says the winter of 2019 was severe in central and northeast Vermont so the permit allocation is 51 percent less than 2018 in those areas.
