Vigil Held for 7 Killed in NH Crash

A candlelight vigil was held Saturday night in honor of the seven killed and three injured in a fiery crash in Randolph, New Hampshire.

The motorcycle riders are Marine veterans who were headed to a fundraiser. They were struck and killed Friday night by a driver in a pickup truck just 500 feet from the motel they’d been staying at. The fallen were each members of the South Shore chapter of the Jarheads biker club. The chapter has less than 30 members.

A 2016 Dodge 2500 pickup truck collided with the riders Friday on U.S. 2, a two-lane highway in Randolph. The cause of the deadly collision is not yet known, and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

The pickup truck, which appeared from photos to be carrying a flatbed trailer, was on fire when emergency crews arrived. Witnesses described a "devastating" scene as bystanders tried to help riders lying in the road.

The driver of the truck they collided with has not been charged.

A second vigil along with a fundraiser will be held at the Whitman VFW Wednesday night.

"It's tragic," State Police Capt. Chris Vetter told reporters during a news conference late Friday. "It's tragic for those involved, tragic for the families, so we're doing our job, we're doing our work and our thoughts are with the people who were adversely affected by this."
